  Fast forward to November
2020, when I was approached by
my university about an exciting opportunity. Piper Aircraft and UND Aerospace were beginning a new social media marketing initiative, where they would select students
to help share the exciting story of UND and Piper’s long-standing relationship. UND Aerospace is proud to be one of the largest flight training establishments in the country, with a fleet of over 100
Piper aircraft. The tried-and-true airframe designs, reliable engines
in all weather conditions, and state-of-the-art avionics packages make Piper’s airplanes the ideal trainers to use for the rigorous
flight training operations in Grand Forks. However, for as much as we utilize Piper equipment, the story
of our involvement and the value of these aircraft are rarely discussed. And so the Brand Ambassador position was born.
I happily and gratefully accepted the Brand Ambassador position. Getting to work closely with such an incredible company was the perfect opportunity to continue my desire
to learn about general aviation. I was familiar with Piper from my generous 2020 MMOPA scholarship award
and loved the people, values, and goals that the company promoted. Plus, aviation-based social media marketing is a field that I’ve worked in since 2018, and another passion of mine. I knew that becoming a Brand Ambassador would be a wonderful experience, but nothing could have prepared me for the adventure
that lay ahead.
After a few months of working
with Piper, I was informed of another exciting opportunity that went
along with the Brand Ambassador program. Each year, Piper brings interns from UND to their factory and world headquarters in Vero Beach, Florida, to work for the summer. As ambassadors, we were encouraged to apply, and I was lucky enough to earn an internship spot!
