 New Southeast Regional Governor
I’d like to announce the recent appointment of Brady Bennett as the Governor of the Southeast (SE) North America region. Brady
has had a passion for aviation since childhood. He has been a pilot since 1986 and holds commercial, instrument and CFI ratings. In 2006 he purchased a 2001 SR20 and flew it 1,400 hours before purchasing a 2003 SR22 Centennial in September 2018.
Brady fully retired in 2018 after working 32 years for the Internal Revenue Service followed by eight years consulting. After living in seven different cities throughout his career, Brady and his wife, Barbara, now reside on 12 acres just east of Asheville, North Carolina.
As a firm believer in leveraging the knowledge of Cirrus pilots, Brady sent an email to over 1,100 members of the SE region asking for input on event locations. Besides the Heaven’s Landing fly-in, events in St. Augustine, Florida; Columbus, Georgia; and Greenville, South Carolina, are also being planned.
Brady has also decided to use a structure for the region which is being used in the North Central region – appointing state governors which allows spreading the responsibility for identifying and developing fly- in events to those who have the local knowledge. Besides being regional governor, Brady will take on the role of state governor for North Carolina, Gerald Gaige has volunteered for South Carolina, and there has been interest shown for Alabama and Tennessee. Representatives are still needed for Mississippi, Georgia and Florida (and there can be more than one volunteer per state; in fact, it’s helpful!).
“Bringing an event to the region can be a rewarding experience but takes work. My hope is that by tapping into the knowledge and volunteer spirit of COPA members we can increase the level of participation in event development and delivery across the region,” Brady said.
If you have a desire to support the efforts of the COPA Southeast Region with becoming a volunteer within your state, please let Brady know by sending an email to bradybennett@hotmail.com.
