Figure 7: You can replace a spark plug on the road if you have an extra one and some tools. From left, spark plug socket, extension, 3/8-inch socket wrench, torque wrench (to tighten plug), 7/8-inch wrench (to remove the ignition wire nut) and a spark plug.
Performing these checks before your travel day will reduce the chance of mechanical items going wrong on your trip. With just a little work, you can prevent the most common failures.
