 EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S NOTE
Continued from page 3
Our keynote speaker is Tammie Jo Shults, who is fea- tured here in this issue of MMOPA Magazine. Tammie Jo, who is a MMOPA member and owns a Malibu with her husband Dean, is one of the first female fighter pilots to serve in the U.S. Navy. She gained international renown
as the captain of Southwest Airlines flight 1380, which she successfully made an emergency descent and landing after it experienced an uncontained engine failure causing rapid decompression.
We will kick off the convention with our traditional Wednesday night welcome reception at which we will honor or Lifetime members and welcome first-timers. This event will take place atop the Marriott’s elevated poolside deck overlooking Nashville’s skyline and Lower Broadway. Thursday night, we will be feted with a truly unique expe- rience at the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum.
Friday night, we have something incredibly special planned. For the first time in MMOPA history, we will hold a private concert featuring Eaglemania and our very own Meridian owner and drummer John Weiswasser. If you haven’t heard of either, stop right now, go to YouTube and search for “Life in the FL.” Then take a listen to any one one of the many videos uploaded of the world’s greatest Eagles tribute band, Eaglemania.
Yes, you read that right: Eaglemania is playing MMOPA Nashville LIVE as part of our Friday night fundraiser for the MMOPA Safety & Education Foundation.
For those who cannot join us in-person, we will be streaming the entire convention live, including the concert and auction. In addition, we will be featuring a virtual exhibit hall (even better than what we offered last fall) that will allow our exhibitors to interact with you, answer ques- tions, and showcase products and services.
All education sessions will be stored in the Nashville LIVE convention portal for on-demand playback after the event is concluded. For those who attend in-person, you will have full access to the on-demand content. Thus, if you missed a session or wish to watch again (it’s amazing what you learn when you re-watch a session!) you will have access at your convenience.
We will conclude the convention on Saturday at noon, allowing you time to enjoy the hotel and all that Nashville has to offer. If you haven’t experienced Lower Broadway, the Grand Ole Opry or the unique dining and shopping opportunities, you’ll want to check it out!
So shine up those cowboy boots, pack your favorite west- ern gear, and meet us in Nashville on Sept. 1. Registration opens the first week of June – keep your eyes peeled for an email and for announcements on the website.
