 The Committee supported the intent of the resolution
in making coverage available to more people. However, the Committee supported current AMA and MSMS policy around national health care coverage reform. It was noted that this is not a Michigan specific issue and would be better addressed at a national level.
2022 HOD Final Action: Disapproved RESOLUTION TITLE: Balancing Supply and
Demand for Physicians by 2030 RESOLUTION AUTHOR: Martha Gray, MD, for the
Washtenaw County Delegation
RESOLVED: That MSMS take action on all fronts, includ- ing, but not limited to, supporting legislation to pursue and implement remedies that will rebalance the supply and demand equation for primary care physicians by 2030; and be it further
RESOLVED: That the Michigan Delegation to the Ameri- can Medical Association (AMA) ask our AMA to take action on all fronts, including reaffirmation of all rel- evant AMA Policies, to pursue and implement remedies that will rebalance the supply and demand equation for primary care physicians by 2030.
There was broad support in testimony for Resolution 06-22; however, the Committee believed it could be strengthened by amending the first Resolved to em- phasize legislative action and by amending the second Resolved to reaffirm current AMA Policy.

RESOLUTION TITLE: Amend CME Rules to Align with ABMS Policy Changes
RESOLUTION AUTHOR: Richard Burney, MD, for the Washtenaw County Delegation
RESOLVED: That MSMS work with the Michigan Boards of Medicine and Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery
to amend the Michigan Administrative Code, Rules 338.2443 and 338.143, or to seek legislative remedy, to align with the new American Board of Medical Special- ties’ Standards for Continuing Certification such that active participation in specialty continuing certification constitutes evidence of substantial compliance with continuing medical education (CME) requirements and an acceptable means of meeting CME requirements for license renewal.
There was overwhelming support for Resolution 31-22; however, the Committee believed MSMS could seek a

Interested in WCMS’ COVID-19 Workgroup?
Since March 2020, WCMS has convened regular COVID-19 teleconferences to discuss resource allocation, emergency prepared- ness, and tracking and tracing among Washtenaw’s health department, health sys- tems, and physician leaders. The workgroup is led by University of Michigan infectious dis- eases specialist and WCMS Executive Coun- cil member Sandro Cinti, MD. The workgroup also receives updates and modeling data from University of Michigan Public Health epidemiologists.
