Integrity and Vitality of the State and County Medical Societies
RESOLUTION AUTHOR: Evelyn Eccles, MD, for the Washtenaw County Delegation
RESOLVED: 4.20 ADJOINING COUNTY—A doctor of medicine whose principal location of practice is near a county may, with the permission of the Board of Direc- tors of this Society, and upon being duly elected thereto, hold membership in the component society most conve- nient for the member to attend.
(This resolution calls for the section 4.20 of the bylaws to be deleted, as shown by the strikethrough. The goal
is to strengthen component societies by ensuring that physicians join the component society where they live or work, not elsewhere.)

RESOLUTION TITLE: Repeal of Michigan’s Abortion Law
RESOLUTION AUTHOR: Richard Burney, MD, for the Washtenaw County Delegation
RESOLVED: That MSMS advocate to repeal Act 328 of 1931, regardless of the outcome of 27 the current case before the Supreme Court.
The Reference Committee recommended to approve the Resolution 33-22 but the Resolution was extracted for further debate at the meeting of the full house. A motion was made to refer to the MSMS Board of Directors. The motion was approved.
