TITLE: Prohibit Persons from Carrying Firearms and Explosive Devices in Local and State Government Buildings
RESOLVED: That MSMS advocate that firearms and explosive devices of all kinds, with a carry exception for law enforcement officials, be prohibited from local and state government buildings.
There was support for the Resolution; however, the Committee believed that including public spaces in the language was too broad of a term. The focus on local and state government buildings was appropriate while taking enforcement efforts into consideration.
The title was amended to remove public spaces and add local government buildings to coincide with the resolved statement.

RESOLUTION TITLE: MSMS Efforts to Mitigate the COVID-19 Pandemic
RESOLUTION AUTHOR: James Mitchiner, MD, for the Washtenaw County Delegation
The Committee amended the resolved portion to read:
RESOLVED: That MSMS takes a more assertive position in favor of requiring COVID-19 vaccinations for health care workers (with legitimate exceptions), using all avail- able public mediums to do so.
The Committee supports the intent of this Resolution, but after much discussion, it was decided that moving past the MSMS Board statement regarding the support of COVID vaccines for health care workers was necessary.
It was also decided to remove the second Resolved statement (which read: RESOLVED: That MSMS supports the reporting to the Michigan Boards of Medicine and45 Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery of any Michigan physician who publicly spreads false and/or misleading information against well-established scientific evidence about COVID vaccinations, masking, or ineffective treat- ments.) There was a lot of discussion, but yet could not find a better mechanism for policing physicians’ words and actions in public settings.
